    THE PRAYER ON THE FABRIC

Four lines. Eight words. Centuries of devotion compressed into a verse so potent that Bengalis have recited it since childhood without always knowing where it comes from.

    রূপং দেহি। জয়ং দেহি। যশো দেহি। দ্বিজ্ঞ জহি।

Grant me beauty. Grant me victory. Grant me fame. Destroy my enemies of the self.

This is the Argala Stotram — the bolt-prayer from the Devi Mahatmyam, recited before the Chandi Path as the door is unlocked for Devi to enter. Not a casual verse. A declaration. A claim made directly to the Goddess, in her own court.

    This kurti wears that claim.

    THE DESIGN

The trishul runs the length of the kurti — from collar to hem — in deep black, its shaft anchored in a diya at the base, flame wisps rising in red. A single red sindoor bindi marks the mid-point of the shaft, the exact spot where the sacred and the mortal meet.

To the left of the trishul, the four lines of the Argala Stotram fall in bold Bengali calligraphy, rendered in deep crimson — the colour of Devi's energy, the colour of the alta that marks her feet, the colour that means she has already arrived.

The composition is vertical, asymmetric, deliberate. It reads like a prayer scroll worn on the body.

    THE PRINT

Produced through high-definition DTF (Direct to Film) printing using OEKO-TEX ECOPASSPORT certified inks — independently verified, safe against skin, free of harmful substances. The crimson of the Bengali lettering and the black of the trishul are reproduced with the precision this design demands.

    THE FABRIC & FIT

Pure cotton — white ground, soft, breathable, built for Bengal's climate. Short kurti length, V-neck with mandarin collar, full sleeve, straight relaxed cut. Wears easily with palazzos, jeans, or straight trousers. Devotional enough for Puja days. Quiet enough for every other day.

    WHO WEARS THIS

The Bengali woman who wears this kurti knows the Argala Stotram. She may recite it every morning. She may have heard her grandmother recite it during Chandi Path and not fully understood it then. She understands it now.

She wears this to Puja. She wears this to work the week before Puja when the whole city is already in a different mood. She wears this because someone will read the Bengali script and ask — what does it say?

And she will tell them. That is the whole point.
