16 October 1905. The Day Bengal Refused to Break.
Curzon drew a line through Bengal. Bengal answered with a thread.
On the morning of the partition, at Rabindranath's call, Hindus and Muslims tied rakhi on each other's wrists across Kolkata — a vow that no decree could divide what blood and language had bound. The ghats overflowed. Bande Mataram rose from every procession under the Howrah sky. And in courtyards across the province, foreign cloth burned as Bengal turned to its own loom — the Swadeshi fire that would light the road to 1947.
This tee carries that morning in ink: the rakhi at the wrist, the marchers with their flags, the bonfire of bilati cloth, and the line every Bengali knows by heart — "মায়ের দেওয়া মোটা কাপড় মাথায় তুলে নে রে ভাই" — Rajanikanta Sen's anthem to homespun pride.
