Shyama means the dark one. For Bengal's artists, that darkness has never meant absence. It is the boldest canvas there is: the night itself, with nothing to hide behind and everything to say.

The patuas of Kalighat painted her in bold, confident strokes. Poets like Ramprasad Sen gave her words. Every generation of Bengali artists has come back to her and drawn her again in its own hand, because no other subject asks an artist to be this brave.

This is a contemporary artist's take on that long tradition, made on two canvases: one on the front of the T-shirt and one on the back.

This is 240 GSM French terry cotton, the weight of a sweatshirt in the shape of a T-shirt. It's smooth outside and soft and looped inside, with a ribbed collar and cuffs that hold their shape. The double stitching at the shoulder, hem and cuffs is made to last many winters.

What does 240 GSM mean?
GSM is how heavy the cloth is. Our regular T-shirts are 180 GSM. This one is 240, 1.33x the weight, so it feels thick and soft, holds its shape, and keeps you warm through the winter.

Why it stands apart.

Will it be too warm for Kolkata?

How is the design printed?
Both artworks are HD DTF prints, done with ink that carries the OEKO-TEX ECO PASSPORT certification. That means the ink's ingredients have been checked against OEKO-TEX's safety standards, so it is gentle on your skin.
How should I wash and iron it?
Machine wash cold. Turn it inside out when washing and ironing to protect the print. Tumble dry on low if you use a dryer.
